Event:
The competition is a fun introduction to racing for skaters in the Active Start (skaters should be able to complete 3 laps of the 85 metre track), FUNdamentals (FUNd), Learning to Train (L2T) and Training to Train (T2T) development levels and includes a Special Olympics division for Special Olympics athletes of all ages. 

Format:
Races are on the 100 M and 85 M tracks except for the Special Olympics Division, which races on the 111M track.

Location:
The meet is held on the Olympic size Arena D at the RBC Centre at 259 Commodore Drive, Dartmouth NS. 

Entering Halifax-Dartmouth from the east on NS-118, take Exit 12 by the IKEA store to Wright Ave, then left on John Savage Drive and right on Commodore Drive. 

From the west, take the Burnside Drive exit off NS-111 and turn right off Burnside Drive onto Commodore.

Speed Skating Canada sanction

Entry fee:
$40 per skater, plus IceReg admin fees.

Mandatory equipment:
Per SSC rules:
  • Speed skating or CSA approved hockey, snowboard/ski/skateboarding helmet
  • Shatter-resistant glasses or a complete visor are required for all skaters.  All glasses must be held in place by a strap.  Dark or mirrored glasses are not permitted.
  • Bib-type neck guard
  • Cut-resistant gloves
  • Knee pads
  • Shin guards
  • Ankle protection (Kevlar or Dyneema, must be worn with all skate types)
