Speed Skating Competitive Programs

Dartmouth Crossing Short Track Speed Skating
Competitive Programs

There are currently two streams offered in the Competitive Program.

Entry to the Competitive Program must be approved by the Head Coach.
On entry to the program, participants must complete
the Participant Agreement and submit it to the Head Coach.

Skates are not provided for these programs, but the club maintains an inventory of speed skates that are available for rental.  Info is available at this link.

Costs of sending coaches to competitions are not covered by program fees and will be shared by the participants.

Racing for Fun is the entry level stream to the Competitive Program, for skaters developing basic speed skating skills, and beginning to attend formal competitions and/or are interested in incorporating skating training into an active lifestyle.

Skaters will generally be in the early stages of the Training to Train (11-15) development level.

Participation in two or more formal competitions per season is recommended, but not required.

The program is offered once a week, on Thursdays at 8:00 PM.

Skaters wishing to attend an additional training session each week can join the Skills Development program on Tuesdays at 7:10 PM.

Fees:
Half season 1 session/week (Oct-Dec or Jan-Mar)                 $300
Full season 1 session/week (Oct-Mar)                                     $500

The fees listed above include Competitive level membership ($50) with Speed Skating Canada and Speed Skate Nova Scotia.  Fees have to be paid only once during the season, if paid previously they will be deducted from the fees above.
